Los Angeles County Museum of Art proposes merger with MOCA
For those of you interested in museums and such, the Museum of Contemperary Art in L.A. is currently facing a proposition made by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The MOCA has been facing financial struggles, and as a proposal the LACMA wants to merge, offering them a sum of $30 million. Reasons why this may be a bad move for the MOCA are that it would require staff cuts, and a combined board for the museums. This would take away from the MOCA's independence it's own entity. The article is an interesting read, and I think Diane Haithman and Mike Boehm do a good job at being subtlely non-biased.
